Prepare Data

Before you get started, make sure your data is stored in an ODC compatible format - this means your data is:

• stored in a spreadsheet that can be saved as a .csv file

• organized in tidy format

If you are intending to publish your data (i.e., request a DOI and share to the Public Space), you will need:

• a data dictionary file (also a .csv file)

• Community Data Elements (CoDEs) for SCI or TBI

• narrative metadata entered into the Metadata Editor

While not a requirement, we strongly advise uploading your files into our quality control app to do a preliminary check for errors in your file structures or variable names. Information on how to access and use this tool can be found here:

**Datasets uploaded to your Personal or Lab Space(s) do not require CoDEs, a data dictionary, or a comprehensive metadata submission at the time of upload, however they are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and are required for any dataset entering the editorial review and publication (DOI request) process
