Request a DOI

Only PI and Managers can request DOIs since at the end of the process the data will be ready to be released to the public.

Make sure you have your dataset, data dictionary and metadata ready for DOI! This will reduce the time and work to do.

Review your "Current Lab Space"

In the left side navigation pane, click "Current Lab Space" and confirm you are in the correct Verified Laboratory on the ODC; if you need to switch labs, use the "Switch Lab" button in the navigation pane

Confirm your Lab User Role

You must be a Laboratory PI or Laboratory Manager to see the "Request DOI" button - confirm your role by scrolling through the box titled "Users" (on Current Lab Space) and reviewing the Level assigned to you

Click the "Request DOI" button

Scroll down to view all datasets in the Lab Space; click the blue "Request DOI" button for the dataset you wish to publish

Complete the DOI Request Checklist and requested information

Confirm completion of required items and input requested information

Submit DOI Request

Click the green "Submit DOI Request" button to lock the dataset and initiate the Editorial Review Process
